BikeSummer began in San Franscico is 1999 to promote bicycling and transportation concerns in an exciting month of actions, adventures and advocacy. It was also created to focus attention on the global bicycle movement = the positive things happening in the streets of San Francisco and the negative changes in countries like China where the automobile is gaining ground at the expense of all other resources.

Bikesummer has since then traveled to Vancouver, BC, Chicago, Portland, OR, and New York City. At each stop all the way, it features workshops, lectures, films, rides, art exhibits and more. For details on each Bikesummer, visit the Bikesummer site by year.
