New York also has a lot of water, as seen here in
Gantry State Park in Long Island City, Queens.

Many of the city's bridges are accessible to bikes,
such as the Queensboro (connecting Queens and Manhattan),
|
Bayonne Bridge (connecting Staten Island and Bayonne, New Jersey),
|
and the Manhattan Bridge (connecting Brookyn and Manhattan).
|
But there's still work to be done. Bikes aren't
allowed on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge (connecting Staten Island and
Brooklyn), for example.

Even Lance comes to town every now and then. Here
he is in a 2002 race in Lower Manhattan.

|
There's plenty of bike culture too. Here's a
homemade chopper at Critical Mass.

The number of bikes paths is growing. Here's a new
one in Soundview Park, the Bronx.

And an old one along Shore Parkway in Brooklyn.
|
But plenty of bikers use the streets. This Pedicab
is cruising the cobblestones in Soho.

Despite all the good things, we have many obstacles to perfect biking.
