BikeSummer Masthead

This publication, and Bikesummer in general, were the result of a collective process by an ad hoc group of bicycle advocates. We didn't always agree with each other, and some articles and events caused dissent among us, but we think this is representative of the variety of ideas and attitudes in the bicycle movement. And we always hugged in the end.

This one-time publication was brought to you by the Bikesummer Editorial Collective: Mark Motyka, Ben Seibel, Nicole McMorrow, Josh Switzky, Greg Howard, Chris Carlsson, Leah Shahum, Dave Wilbur.

Bikesummer 1999 was dis-organized by the Bikesummer Ad Hoc Organizing Committee (BSAOC): Mark Motyka, Greg Howard, Josh Switzky, Mike Smith, Dave Wilbur, Keeeth, Paul Dorn, Nicole McMorrow, Craig Snyder, Leah Shahum, and Anna Sojourner.

Big thanks to all the Bikesummer event organizers and to the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, Jim Swanson, Jon Winston (The Reproman), New College, Pete "Sticker Guy" Menchetti (www.stickerguy.com), David Powers, and Joel Pomerantz.

The BSAOC spent several thousand dollars out-of-pocket on this publication and Bikesummer in general. Donations to help recover costs would be appreciated; checks may be sent to the SFBC (see p.15 for address) with a note for "Bikesummer." Any donations above the direct costs of Bikesummer will be donated to nonprofit bicycle organizations.

"We hope you understand that this is the first time that we have tried to carry out a revolution, and we are still learning."
- Subcomandante Marcos, EZLN, 10 June 1994
